DAVID COCHENOUR

February 25, 1948 to May 15, 2015

On May 15th, 2015, surrounded by family, David went to be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with cancer. David was born on February 25, 1948 to Harlin and Evelyn Cochenour in The Dalles, Ore. In 1966 he graduated from The Dalles High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he spent the first two years at sea on the USS Ticonderoga and his last two years stationed in Meridian Mississippi. After a short courtship, he married Linda Campbell on January 26, 1969. After 4 years in the service they returned to The Dalles in August of 1970, where they raised two sons, David Jr. and Jeffrey. He went to work for the local Aluminum plant and became a Millwright. When the plant closed in 1985, he opened his own construction company, Cochenour Builders, which is still going strong. He still enjoyed answering questions from his son Jeff, who now runs the company. One of David’s greatest joys in life was watching his sons and grandkids play sports or other activities they were involved in. He tried to make it to all their games and the crowd always knew that David was there. He loved to fish, camp, golf, ski, travel, play cards, and tell old Navy stories, but he most enjoyed being with his family and friends. David was a member of the Elks 303 and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Linda of 46 years, two sons David Jr. (Dawn), Jeff (Gina), three grandchildren: Emilie, David III, Molly, two step-grandchildren, Megan Johnson and Hailie Moulton (Tyler), his sister Kathryn Vogel (Mike), brother Steve, Uncle Lester Cochenour (Jody), Aunts Arlis Rohan and Barbara Reynolds, several in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog Lady. A viewing will be held May 20, 2015 from 2-5 pm at Spencer, Libby, and Powell funeral home. Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church in The Dalles at 12 pm, Thursday May 21st, 2015 followed by Military honors at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
