DONALD MEE

September 16,1947 to November 4, 2014

Don passed away at home in The Dalles on Tuesday, Nov. 4. He was born in Port Angeles, Wa. on Sept. 16, 1947 before the family moved to Seattle, and later The Dalles. Don graduated from The Dalles High School in 1965. He enlisted in the army and served in Vietnam from Sept. 1965 through July 1968, acting as a gunner on a helicopter as well as ground combat. He was later discharged with honors. Before he retired, Don’s career was in property management. He spent 14 years in Florida prior to his return to The Dalles, where he lived for the last 10 years of his life. For the last two, he spent his winters in Arizona. Don always loved the outdoors, and included fishing, camping, reading and painting among his long list of hobbies. He also enjoyed barbequing surrounded by family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his father, Donald Mee, in 1990; mother Ernestine Bryd in 2012; and brother Steve Boggs in 2000. He is survived by his family, including daughters Tara Dupuis and her husband Jim; Liberty Wecker and her husband Ken; his very special girlfriend Sara Watson; his sissy Diana Cheadle and her husband Mike; brothers Paul Mee and David Mee; grandkids Dean Johnson; Sage, Silas and Jesse Dupuis; Jordan, Ethan, Aubree and Hayden Wecker; several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. There will be a 12 p.m. military service at the Veterans’ Memorial site across from Sorosis Park. A gathering and celebration of life will also take place at The Legend following the service.
