Robert W. Seufert, 54, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at a local care facility, following a brief battle with cancer.  He was born in The Dalles on March 13, 1947 to Edward and Esther (Durfee) Seufert and grew up here, attending local schools including Whittier and Court Street schools, before attending The Dalles Jr. High School.  He was a member of The Dalles Jr. High School Student Council and the baseball team.  He played basketball in his sophomore year and graduated from TheDalles High School in 1966.  He was a proud and active member of The Dalles High School Class of 1966.  Bob will always be remembered for his 1956 Chevy Nomad Station Wagon and his love of classic cars, his zest for life, his wonderful smile, his courage, his hugs and most of all, for his sense of humor and heart of gold.  He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Kris Seufert and Randy and Karen Seufert, his uncle Richard Seufert, nieces and nephews; Sean Seufert, Matt and Megan Johnson, and Lynette O'Brien and by his life long family of classmates and friends.  Memorial services will be at 11 am, Saturday, July 14 at St. Peter's Catholic Church.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Class of 1966 Memorial Fund, c/o Kathy Catmull Garrett, 1500 E. 14th St., The Dalles, OR 97058.  Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation and Burial.

Whenever I see a 55, 56, 57 Chevrolet, I think of "Seufert" hanging out at the Handout.  Bob was always the life of the party, and if there was a party, all you had to do is follow Bob's Chevy.  He was a fun guy to know and everyone liked him.  I will miss him for his happy-go-lucky attitude.  He is probably still cruzinin the Handout in the sky.  Rest well my friend.
