Fred Allen Kimbell

Fred Allen Kimbell, 57, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local hospital on Friday, March 17, 2006.  He was born June 16, 1948 in Hood River, the youngest of four children to Lon and Mary (Flannery) Kimbell.  He grew up in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1966.  He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war, then returned to The Dalles, where he worked as a crane operator for NW Aluminum.  He was a member of the Steel Worker's Union and enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife, Pat (Jones) Mock-Kimbell, whom he married June 17, 1989 in The Dalles, his sons, Cory Kimbell, Longview, WA; Jason Kimbell, MO; his daughter, Tracie Kimbell, The Dalles; step-daughters, Shawn Mock, The Dalles and Tristin Mock, Portland; grandchildren Ryan, Kalie and Drake Cowell, Zackary Mock, all of The Dalles; Amanda and Jark Kimbell, MO; and a grandchild on the way; his brother Lon Kimbell, Ferndale, WA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tommy Ray Kimbell.  Memorial services will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, March 23, at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.  Private cremation was held at The Dalles Winquatt Crematory.  Remembrances may be made to family to help pay for medical expenses, c/o Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Ave., The Dalles, OR 97058 or Special Olympics, Local Chapter, 922 W. 2nd St., The Dalles, OR 97058.
